Indian Council of Agricultural Research; The Modi Plam Regional Station of the Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR‐ CPRI) in Mirat held a one-day event on the occasion of National Potato Day2026 National Potato ExpoIt gathers growers, researchers, industry representatives, and relevant parties.
Mr. Shri Rajkumar Sanwan, the guest of honor and a member of the Bagpat Assembly in Uttar Pradesh, emphasized the importance of natural and organic agriculture. Experts from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research shared their insightsHigh quality, nutritious, heat-resistant, and disease resistant potato varietiesAnd the production technology of virus-free seed potatoes. The technical exchange segment allows farmers and scientists to directly connect and solve practical problems in the fields.
The attending guests include Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Deputy Director of Horticultural Science at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in New Delhi, Dr. Sudhakar Pandi, Assistant Director of Horticultural Science at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in New Delhi, and Modi Pram, Indian Council of Agricultural Research; Dr. Sunil Kumar, Director of the Indian Farming System Research Institute.
Indian Council of Agricultural Research; Dr. Brajesh Singh, Director of the Central Potato Research Institute (Simla), introduced the main achievements and future plans of the institute in potato research and promotion.
Technology Exhibition and Farmer Participation
A technology exhibition with 20 booths was held during the event, showcasing excellent potato varieties, planting techniques, potato processed products, biologics, innovative achievements in agricultural industries, and the application of drones in agriculture. The exhibition also released two professional publications of the research institute.
About 350 representatives from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, and Karnataka attended the conference. The purpose of this event is to popularize potato planting, pest control, post harvest treatment, and modern agricultural new technologies, and to commend outstanding growers.
